What is the Difference Between an Estimate and a Quote?

An estimate from Turkstra encompasses determining the scope of your project, ascertaining specific project details, and the materials needed for the construction. An estimate would consider qualifying information to produce a materials list for your project and define the more intricate details of your project. For example, if there is a need for a window estimate, we would need to determine the project size, how many windows are required, what kinds of windows, whether any glass options are wanted, and so much more. An estimate can provide a rough approximation of the price as well.

On the other hand, a quotation is a more precise price that we provide to our customers based on an estimate or material list. A quotation, often referred to as a "quote", is a formal offer or proposal provided by a supplier. It specifies the price at which the seller is willing to provide a certain quantity and quality of lumber.
A quotation is a more detailed and precise document compared to an estimate. It typically includes specific details such as the type of lumber, quantities, quality standards, delivery terms, payment terms, and a definite price. We provide both estimates and quotes. However, we can also just provide a quote if you have a pre-existing estimate or material list.
