Charity/ Community at Turkstra – 2020

One of our core values as a company is to give back and support the communities where we live and work. It’s a tradition that has spanned for 3 generations and over 65 years.

Coldest Night of the Year

Turkstra Lumber is proud to be participating again in the Coldest Night of The Year fundraiser happening Feb 22, 2020. Our goal is to beat last year’s record breaking numbers and have as much impact on our local communities as possible. We can’t thank everyone enough for your continued support of our teams in this noble effort. Visit cnoy.org to learn more about the local charities that benefit, to donate to a local team or to register and walk with us on Feb 22. Because, it’s cold out there!

Dundas Winter Coat Drive

We would like to congratulate Turkstra Lumber Dundas on the success of their two winter coat drives this year! Team Dundas is ALWAYS willing to go the extra mile to support their community. Thank you, Team Dundas and thanks to anyone who supported! Their first coat drive was in Early February with a follow up in December.

Chili-4-Charity

Turkstra Lumber’s annual Chili cook off is on again! This year we had a total of 6 branches selling bowls of Chili for local charities plus competing to be crowned best Chili Chef in the company. Stoney Creek’s Mike L is the first to success in taking the Chili4Chairty trophy from the 2 time reigning champion in Dundas. You can check out all the live branch tastings as well as the final judging in the video section on our Facebook page: facebook.com/turkstralumberco

Like-A-Thon

Back by popular demand, It’s the 2020 Turkstra Lumber Like-A-Thon Parts 1 and 2. Unfortunately, due to the health risks of hosting out regular Charity BBQs, we have decided to host 2 major online giveaway/charity campaigns. Our first one took place in May of 2020 and 1$ was donated for every new Facebook or Instagram like to a local food bank. Our second event took place in October, and for this even we teamed up with our Charity Partner from last year, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton. Between these two events we managed to raise over $1500 for local charities and give away over 30 prize packs, including exclusive Hamilton Tiger-Cat swag, over $1000 in local restaurant gift cards, a giant plush pink panther from our friends at Owens-Corning, Turkstra gift cards and more! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and make sure you don’t miss out next big giveaway!

Stoney Creek Food Drive

We would like to give a huge shout out to our staff volunteers, Scouts Canada, and Metro in Wynona for making sure the Annual Stoney Creek Food Drive endured through these difficult times. Despite not being able to collect donations by going door to door this year, Scouts Canada was able to set up a collection booth at the Metro last Saturday and was able to help make an impact for the Stoney Creek Community Food Bank. Thank you, to everyone who was able to support!
