Together, our employees have over 2,100 YEARS of Turkstra experience which is an average of 8 years/employee. That number doubles when you add in all of the years our employees have of industry experience before joining Turkstra. Our employees have access to product training from our vendors including videos, in-person trainings, lunch & learns and courses on basic estimating and design. Built-It-Better Coaches undergo a full certification process which includes hands-on training (building the project they are qualifying for), and have to pass exams for the entire process. EX: Fence & Deck coaches must physically build a fence and deck in our training warehouse; and their exams include everything from applying for permits, locate services, deck design, and product selection to completing the build. Our Sales Team (Account Managers and Senior Account Managers) are experts trained in building science. Many of whom were contractors, tradespeople and home builders before joining Turkstra. We have an in-house Design Team who are technical experts to design structural components of your home including roof trusses and engineered floor systems (wood floor trusses, engineered i-Joists or LVLs).

Turkstra is part of the ILDC National Buying group which gives us buying power in the market. We buy direct from lumber mills! We have a purchasing department with a Distribution Centre which allows us to order in bulk for the entire company that are redistributed to all locations. We will price match competitors for in-stock items. Bids, volume pricing plans and discounted deliveries for account customers.

We’ve heard of the Good/Better/Best model… but at Turkstra, we like to focus on the Better & Best. We only deal with the best-in-class vendors with high quality products. We manufacture our own trusses that are the best in the industry with 2X4 webs vs. standard 2X3 that are designed to be framer-friendly and easier to install and less framing required on site. We manufacture our own solid wood trim and mouldings at our Turkstra Mill.

We have over 71 years of building relationships with our vendors & manufacturers, industry associations & networks, and community. We have over 4,000 active professional accounts including the best contractors, tradespeople and homebuilders which act as an amazing referral network for our customers.

Our customer service goals include striving to earn 100% of your business and getting a positive referral from every customer. All our employees go through training on world-class customer service and are required to uphold the Turkstra values everyday. We are “Always On The Level.”

Each year, we raise >$100,000 for our local charities in which we work through our Coldest Night of the Year Campaign and Charity BBQs on Fridays from May to September. Our employees love to volunteer their time to local organizations. Every November each location has a coat drive collecting over 500 coats to keep our communities warm. The Turkstra Community Foundation supports over 58 local charities. We support local kid’s sports teams & programs through sponsorships and donations. We are involved in local industry associations such as home-builders associations and chambers of commerce where we volunteer our time to sit on boards and committees. We support local schools, colleges & universities and currently have bursary programs at Mohawk College, Niagara College & Conestoga College in building science technology.
